The biometric data collection from 100% of passengers from outside the Schengen area is proceeding without significant problems at Portuguese airports, according to the Public Security Police. The measure is part of border control implemented at the country's airport facilities.
In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, there are currently 115 police officers assigned to airport security and border control, the PSP revealed. This number represents the personnel dedicated specifically to these functions in the region.
The information was provided to the Portuguese news agency by the deputy national director of the PSP and head of the National Unit for Foreigners and Borders, superintendent-chief João Ribeiro. This official provided the data on the control operation at national airports.
