Eight flights were diverted from Madeira Airport on Wednesday due to strong wind affecting the region. The situation forced airlines to reroute passengers to other destinations.
Of these eight diverted flights, three landed in Porto Santo, which served as the closest alternative. Another four aircraft were routed to airports in the Canary Islands, while one flight was redirected to Lisbon.
In addition to the diversions, several flights experienced significant delays due to the adverse weather conditions. Airport authorities monitored the situation continuously.
