Américo Aguiar, chaplain of the Portuguese Firefighters League, paid tribute to the 343 firefighters who died during the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York. This date marks the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers this year.
As part of this commemoration, Américo Aguiar highlighted the enormous courage demonstrated by the firefighters who lost their lives during the rescue operation. Emergency professionals were one of the groups most affected by the tragedy.
The chaplain also expressed his solidarity with the families of the fatalities and with the survivors of the attacks. This expression of support comes in the context of the remembrance ceremonies that are held annually to honor the memory of the victims.
