Cáritas campaign mobilizes 260 volunteers in Madeira and Porto Santo

dnoticias.pt12 September 2026 at 17:54

The Cáritas Diocesana do Funchal is promoting, this weekend, a food collection campaign at Pingo Doce commercial surfaces in Madeira and Porto Santo. The initiative is taking place under the motto "A small gesture for a great cause" and aims to collect food goods to support people and families in situations of greater vulnerability.

The campaign mobilizes around 260 volunteers who will be present at the supermarkets to promote the collection among customers. In addition to the volunteers, the initiative has the participation of approximately 30 partner entities that collaborate in the organization and execution of the campaign.

This solidarity action arises in a context of continuous need to support the most vulnerable communities in the region, allowing consumers to contribute with food donations during their regular shopping. The Cáritas Diocesana do Funchal thus continues to play its role of social response in the Diocese.

Why this matters

Readers in the Madeira and Porto Santo region have the opportunity to participate directly in this solidarity action, either as volunteers or by donating food, contributing to support vulnerable families in the community. The mobilization of 260 volunteers and 30 partner entities reflects the strength of the local solidarity network and the importance of the social sector in the region.
