The Judicial Police is investigating suspicions of match-fixing in Portuguese football refereeing. The investigation comes after the newspaper Correio da Manhã reported this information, indicating that authorities are analyzing possible irregularities in the refereeing system.
According to the same publication, two well-known referees in Portuguese football have already been heard as part of this process. They are Duarte Gomes and Hélder Malheiro, both with international experience and who have officiated matches in major European competitions.
Authorities are also investigating two important figures in national football. On one hand, the former president of SAD Estrela da Amadora is under suspicion. On the other hand, the current leader of the Arbitration Council of the Portuguese Football Federation is also targeted in this investigation.
The process aims to clarify whether there have been manipulations or irregularities in refereeing decisions, although the specific details of the suspicions have not yet been fully revealed by the competent authorities.
