The 17-year-old Brazilian tennis player Guto Miguel qualified for the US Open junior final by defeating Austrian Thilo Behrmann 2 sets to 0, with scores of 6/4, in a match played this Friday (10) in New York. The victory was witnessed by Ronaldo Fenômeno, the former soccer player known as a tennis fan. In the semifinal, Guto had already eliminated the number 2 seed, German Jamie Mackenzie, by 6/3 and 7/6.

Guto Miguel is the number 1 seed of the tournament, current leader of the ITF junior ranking, and holds position 660 in the ATP ranking. The young man from Goiás is seeking his third career Grand Slam title, after winning the singles title at Roland Garros this season and the doubles title at Wimbledon alongside Slovenian Žiga Šeško.

The US Open junior final will be this Saturday at 1 PM Brasília time, against American Marcel Latak, also 17 years old. If he wins, Guto will become the third Brazilian champion of US Open junior singles, following Thiago Wild, who won the tournament in 2018.
