The exemptions at SESARAM

Madeira Opina12 September 2026 at 02:03

The recent implementation of biometric control at SESARAM (Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira) includes exemptions for certain medical specialties, including plastic surgery and dermatology. The author of the article states that some doctors have not even completed the biometric registration and continue to enjoy differentiated treatment regarding schedules.

The article reports that while employees in the MCDT areas, nurses, operational assistants, and administrative staff are rigorously inspected by their supervisors, many doctors arrive at the hospital at 9am and leave at 11am, without fulfilling the 40 weekly hours. Services such as gastroenterology, general surgery, vascular surgery, pediatric surgery, and orthopedic surgery, neonatology, and pediatrics are mentioned as examples of this situation.

The author considers that this situation has been causing damage to the institution for years and criticizes the management of the Board of Directors. It also mentions the existence of high payments for overtime work and PERACS for doctors who do not comply with the base schedule, and questions the reasons for the long waiting lists, such as those for surgery.

The text warns about the injustice of differentiated treatment and warns that if this situation continues, other employees may start only complying with the minimum, also referring to the upcoming legislative elections and the CHEGA party.

So the DN-M had compassion and did not censor.

This opinion article on the "Madeira Opina" blog harshly criticizes a previous text by Miguel de Sousa published in the Diário de Notícias about TAP's privatization. The author deconstructs point by point Miguel de Sousa's arguments, questioning his lack of knowledge about the commercial aviation market, his theories about "air races" and the alleged compassion of groups like Lufthansa or Air France/KLM for insularity. The text also analyzes the issue of European competition regulation, the alleged Iberia/BA plan to destroy Lisbon's hub, the confusion between VINCI's airport management and the French State, and responsibility for the Mobility Subsidy model. The article concludes that the Diário de Notícias did not censor the text out of editorial compassion, and that the idea of solving TAP's privatization with artificial intelligence is absurd.

Half a tank goes to the State

Fuel prices rose significantly again this week, with 95 octane gasoline settling at 2.115 euros per litre and diesel at 2.188 euros, meaning filling sixty litres at a mainland petrol station costs over 130 euros. The increase was 8.5 cents for gasoline and 11 cents for diesel in just seven days, driven by the Brent price and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The article argues that public outrage, while justified, is misdirected, as this rise is an international phenomenon and not the responsibility of local operators.

The acquisition was made through an international letter of credit. The transport of the cables, which were stored at the Special Operations Command of the Military Police in Ramos, to the Palmeira/Fazendinha station, was carried out in two stages to avoid impacts on Avenida Brasil traffic.
