The article addresses the issue of university autonomy in selecting their students in the context of Higher Education. The text argues that granting higher education institutions the freedom to choose their own students should not be interpreted as a privilege granted to universities. On the contrary, this autonomy implies a direct responsibility of institutions for the choices they make. The central message suggests that, by granting autonomy, universities are required to account for the criteria and decisions used in the process of selecting new students. The article appears to advocate that the freedom of choice must be accompanied by transparency and institutional responsibility.
