European textile recyclers are facing serious financial difficulties, not due to management failures, but because they are complying with what European legislation requires. There is a three-year gap between the entry into force of the textile recycling obligation and the availability of the necessary funding for its implementation.
Companies in the sector are being pressured between complying with the law and surviving financially. During this transition period, they are obligated to implement recycling processes without having access to the economic resources promised by the European Union.
The situation puts at risk the viability of several companies operating in the textile recycling sector in Europe. Without adequate financial support, many recyclers may not be able to maintain their operations, which would compromise the environmental objectives of the legislation itself.
