Datafolha: 50% disapprove of Lula's government, and 47% approve

The Datafolha survey released this Friday reveals that 50% of voters disapprove of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's (PT) work as president, while 47% approve of his third term. Three percent of respondents didn't know how to answer. The numbers represent stability compared to the previous survey from September 3, when 51% disapproved of the government, 45% approved and 4% didn't know how to answer, with variations within the two percentage point margin of error.

In May of this year, disapproval of the government reached 51% and opened the largest lead in relation to approval in the year's cumulative, with a six percentage point difference. Since then, the portion of those with a positive assessment rose again, and in July it briefly numerically surpassed disapproval, marking 49% against 48%.

After this favorable moment, however, the management was again rejected by the majority of voters. The current scenario shows an equilibrium between approval and disapproval, with a slight advantage for those who negatively assess the government.

In terms of government assessment, 42% of voters classify Lula's management performance as bad or terrible, indicating that disapproval remains the predominant trend among respondents.

Mendonça defends maintaining the removal of Federal Police director-general Andrei Rodrigues

Minister André Mendonça, of the Supreme Federal Court, defended maintaining the removal of the Federal Police director-general, Andrei Rodrigues, and the Police Intelligence director, Leandro Almada. The statement was filed after Rodrigues presented clarifications to the STF regarding the accusations of investigating authorities, defending the legality of his actions. Mendonça stated that the measure does not encroach on the president's competence to appoint and dismiss members of the PF leadership, highlighting that the Supreme Court has jurisprudence that allows the precautionary removal of public servants. The minister rejected the argument that the departure of the two directors would cause disorganization in the institution, arguing that other delegates have the technical capacity to assume the positions.
