Minister André Mendonça, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), rebutted this Friday the allegations of Minister Alexandre de Moraes that there was only a partial removal of secrecy from processes related to the Master case. In a ruling, Mendonça stated that "all effectively available documents have been duly publicized" and argued that the difference between the number of documents shown by the Court's electronic system and those made available for consultation does not prove that documents have been kept under secrecy.
Mendonça claims that it "would never be possible to publicize" the entirety of the procedures related to petition 15556, which deals with one of the phases of Operation Compliance Zero. According to the minister, this assessment is based on a "prudent and responsible analysis, considering the existence of ongoing investigations and the need to ensure the preservation of personal data of the investigated individuals."
Another argument used by the magistrate is that Fachin, when requesting that the information be made available, would have only requested the display of documents that were already available in the Court's systems, without mentioning additional documents that should have been produced or added to the case files.
The dispute between the two ministers occurs in the context of a controversy over the transparency of the processes related to the Master case, which involves investigations from Operation Compliance Zero.
