Fuels: Government increases discount on ISP for diesel and reduces it for gasoline

The Portuguese government will proceed with new changes to the Excise Duty on Petroleum Products rates next week. These changes will affect the two main fuels used in Portugal differently.

For diesel, the Executive has decided to increase the ISP discount, which should result in a more significant drop in the price of this fuel. This measure aims to support mainly the professional sectors that depend mostly on diesel, such as freight transport and agriculture.

Conversely, the ISP discount on gasoline will be reduced. This decision means that the expected drop in gasoline prices next week will be smaller than initially estimated by the Ministry of Finance.

The changes to ISP rates are part of the Government's strategy to stabilize fuel prices and mitigate the impact of inflation on consumers. The measure comes in a context of volatility in international oil markets.
