Diplomat Nuno Brito will chair the committee overseeing military investments. Currently Portugal's Ambassador to the United Kingdom since 2022, the diplomat has previously served as Portugal's permanent representative to the United Nations and the European Union.
Brito was also Portugal's ambassador to the United States of America before taking up the post in the United Kingdom. His extensive international diplomatic experience justifies his appointment to lead this oversight committee.
The new chairman will oversee the European loans from the SAFE programme, which funds investment projects in the area of European defence and security. This committee aims to ensure the correct use of Community funds allocated to these military investments.
