The school year officially began this Friday and Prime Minister Luís Montenegro traveled to Setúbal, accompanied by the Minister of Education, to mark the start of classes. The visit took place at the new Barbosa du Bocage School Centre, which was inaugurated at the start of this school year.
At the door of the establishment were about 50 people protesting. Workers and teachers demanded better conditions for public schools, salary increases, the maintenance of Social Security in the public sector, and valorization of the National Health Service.
The teachers present emphasized that there is still a shortage of teachers in schools, a problem that persists in the education system.
Montenegro was received with a protest in which the phrase "it's always the same ones" could be heard, and the prime minister dismissed the criticisms, stating that he does not identify with the "whining" presented by the protesters.
