Bruxism hits 1 million searches and raises alert about stress

oglobo11 September 2026 at 21:22

Brazilians made more than 1 million searches related to bruxism on Google between July 2025 and July 2026, according to a survey by Dental Speed, a distributor of dental products. The number places the topic among the biggest concerns about oral and physical health in the country.

The dentist surgeon Dr. Andréa Melo, master's and doctorate, a reference in bruxism, sleep, and quality of life, stated that the search peak is the reflection of a real and measurable phenomenon: a stressed, hyperconnected population that sleeps poorly.

The study also mapped the interest by state. The Federal District leads the ranking, followed by Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, which recorded 145.9 thousand searches in the period. Completing the top 10 are Espírito Santo, Ceará, Paraná, Minas Gerais, and Goiás, with the Southeast concentrating the most states among the top positions.

Since the survey considers the search volume proportionally to the population, the presence of Southeast states at the top suggests that the phenomenon is related to factors such as the accelerated lifestyle pace and stress levels in the region.

Two fireballs and an unusual red sprite leave stunning images in Spain

The Calar Alto Observatory, in the province of Almería, Spain, recorded during the early mornings of September 10 and 11 three notable astronomical phenomena: two fireballs of cometary origin and a red "sprite". The first fireball occurred at 02:29 on the 10th, when a rock detached from a comet entered the atmosphere at approximately 128,000 km/h, beginning at 98 km altitude over the province of Ciudad Real. The cameras also documented a red sprite, a phenomenon lasting only between 3 and 10 milliseconds, triggered by a strong storm in the observatory region.

Did the Sun swallow a super-Earth? The clues may be in its interior

Scientists are investigating the possibility that the Sun engulfed a rocky super-Earth type planet during the early days of the Solar System. A new study suggests that this cataclysmic event could have left detectable chemical signatures in the interior of our star, offering valuable clues about the early evolution of the Solar System and the planetary migration processes that occurred billions of years ago.
