Valpi Bus inaugurated on September 17, at the Penafiel Transport Hub (Novelas), a new fleet of 20 100% electric buses of the HIGER brand, accompanied by an infrastructure of 20 high-power charging points. The investment was developed in partnership with REMO – Powered by Mota-Engil and represents the beginning of the company's energy transition, which celebrates this year 100 years of activity.
The project was awarded to REMO through a public tender financed by PRR and the Environmental Fund. The operation now integrates intelligent energy management systems, preventive maintenance and rapid charging, with an installed power of 2,000 kW, representing a structural change in the way Valpi Bus operates.
Administrator Eduardo Caramalho stated that this partnership marks the beginning of a new phase in the company's history, based on the willingness to evolve and innovate. REMO's CEO, Luís Castanheira, emphasized that sustainable mobility requires integrated solutions that combine infrastructure, energy, technology and operation.
The ceremony started at 4:00 PM with a reception for guests, guided tour of the facilities and the new vehicles, followed by a ceremonial moment of symbolic key handover by REMO. The event concluded with an inaugural trip on one of the electric buses. Valpi Bus, with historic presence in municipalities such as Penafiel, Paredes, Valongo, Lousada, Amarante, Porto and Matosinhos, thus reinforces its commitment to low-emission mobility.
