Postal workers go on indefinite strike

extra11 September 2026 at 20:03

Postal workers approved an indefinite strike on Thursday evening during assemblies held across the country. The information was confirmed by the Interstate Federation of Employees of the Brazilian Postal and Telegraph Company (Findect), which stated that the stoppage began at 10 PM, after approval in 35 assemblies. In Acre, the vote was scheduled for the following Friday.

The stoppage comes after salary negotiations with the state-owned company ended without agreement. According to Findect, one of the main sticking points is the workers' health plan. The entity states that the company "insists on changing its status as maintainer of the plan," which the category considers unacceptable.

The decision from the assemblies came after successive rounds of negotiation and mediation attempts at the Superior Labor Court (TST). Findect stated that the category sought a negotiated solution, but the company maintained its position on an issue considered fundamental by the workers.
