André's parents made a donation to the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Porto in memory of their son, who was followed at the Pediatrics Service of this institution. The family decided to transform the young man's memory into a gesture of solidarity towards other children and young people who continue to be treated at that service.
The donation allowed the acquisition of various support equipment, including immobilizing pillows, viscoelastic and stabilizing pillows, chairs and bath supports, as well as orthopedic support material. This material is intended for the care and comfort of children and young people followed at IPO Porto, helping to improve their conditions during their treatment journey.
At the delivery of the donation, the parents also wanted to commemorate André's memory through the jerseys they were wearing, decorated with sunflowers, the young man's favorite flower. The company Avós em Família also joined this gesture, participating in this contribution intended to support children and young people followed at the institute.
The story was shared by IPO Porto on social media, where the institution thanked André's parents and the company Avós em Família for their solidarity gesture.
