Guimarães received, for the first time, the Solemn Session for the Investiture of New Members of the Diplomacy Academy, which took place this Thursday at the Paço dos Duques de Bragança. This is a ceremony that usually takes place in Madrid, having been transferred to the Portuguese city for the first time. The event brought together about a hundred participants, including representatives from 13 embassies and personalities from the diplomatic, business, academic, journalistic and institutional spheres.
The holding of this ceremony in Guimarães is part of the international projection strategy that the Municipal Council has been developing. This strategy is based on creating institutional relations with the aim of generating new economic, business, scientific, academic and cultural opportunities for the municipality.
In his speech, the President of the Municipal Council of Guimarães, Ricardo Araújo, stressed that for a city like Guimarães, the international dimension is a strategic issue. The mayor highlighted that Guimarães is a territory of companies that learned to produce, to compete and to export, also referring to the existence of entrepreneurs who achieved remarkable paths in this domain.
