Felipe VI commemorated this Friday with the United States at the Naval Base of Rota, in Cádiz, the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, in a ceremony in memory of the victims at one of the main enclaves of military cooperation between the two countries. The King did not speak or make statements.
Participating in the ceremony were Navy Captain Charles A. Chmielak, commander of the American naval station in Rota, and the Ambassador of the United States in Spain, Benjamín León Jr. The event featured the performance of the anthems of Spain and the United States, an overflight of Spanish and American aircraft, and a floral offering made by Felipe VI and the ambassador.
The tribute concluded with bells and a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the attacks of September 11, 2001. Rota is considered one of the main enclaves of military cooperation between Spain and the United States.
