Group of parents sues Ministry of Education over lack of spots for their children in public school

A group of parents filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Education due to the lack of spots for their children in public schools. The families claim they cannot find places for their children in educational institutions in the Lisbon area.

The Minister of Education, Fernando Alexandre, was present in Setúbal for the solemn session marking the start of the school year. However, while this official ceremony was taking place, several families in the Lisbon region continued to be unable to find a spot for their children in a public school.

The situation reflects a gap between the official celebrations of the start of the school year and the reality experienced by many Portuguese families seeking access to public education. The Ministry of Education has not yet publicly commented on the lawsuit filed by the parents.
