The European Central Bank authorized the appointment of Teresa Mora-Grenier as financial officer of Novobanco. The 55-year-old French national, of Portuguese descent, takes up the CFO position with effect from 10 September 2026, for the 2025-2028 term. Her name had already been announced by the French group BPCE when it completed the purchase of the Portuguese bank in April for 6.7 billion euros, pending only regulatory approval within the suitability and propriety assessment process.
Teresa Mora-Grenier holds a degree from EM Lyon Business School and an Executive MBA from ESCP Business School. With over three decades in her career, she worked at Crédit Lyonnais Securities, AlphaValue and joined Natixis in 2011. Before joining Novobanco, she served as vice-CEO of Banque Populaire Rives de Paris, which is part of Groupe BPCE.
With this appointment, Novobanco now has the highest female representation in executive management, also counting on Patrícia Afonso Fonseca and Carmen Garcia Gonçalves. Mark Bourke remains as CEO, while Luís Ribeiro, João Paixão Moreira and Rui Fontes complete the management team.
BPCE is also preparing changes to the bank's governance model, which currently operates with an executive committee and a general and supervisory board. Nicolas Namias will be appointed as chairman and Portuguese banker António Horta-Osório as vice-chairman, pending authorization from regulatory authorities. Novobanco closed the first half of the year with a profit of 367.2 million euros, a 15.6% decrease compared to the same period last year, weighed down by costs associated with the sale.
