The president of Chega, André Ventura, challenged today the secretary-general of the PS, José Luís Carneiro, to approve the reduction of VAT on fuels from the current 23% to the intermediate rate of 13%. The challenge was made in statements to journalists in Cascais.
Chega today presented a bill to this effect, which will be debated in the Assembly of the Republic on September 24. Together with this proposal, the party also presented a zero VAT proposal for essential food goods.
Ventura considered this to be a direct challenge to the PS leader, hoping that he will comment on the matter. The article indicates that Ventura's statements were made to journalists, in Cascais.
