A woman in her 50s died this afternoon following a serious accident in the Romeiras area, in Santo António, in Funchal. A man, also in his 50s, was injured in the incident.
The Funchal Firefighters mobilized five resources and 16 operatives to the accident site. A rescue ambulance and a rescue vehicle were also at the scene.
The accident led to the closure of the Comandante Camacho de Freitas Road, affecting traffic on that route.
