Quercus expressed criticism regarding the Government's lack of transparency concerning the restructuring of the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) and the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF). The environmental association revealed that it requested a meeting with the Minister of Environment and Energy four months ago, but has not received any response to date.
The organisation indicates that the meeting request remains unanswered after four months, which, according to Quercus, demonstrates a lack of openness on the part of the Executive to clarify the details of these structural changes in the environmental sector bodies.
On the other hand, Quercus expressed support for the Government's decision to proceed with a study on high-level water supply in the municipality of Setúbal. This position contrasts with the previous criticism, showing that the association does not oppose all governmental initiatives, but rather the manner in which the restructuring of environmental bodies is being conducted.
