Intesa Sanpaolo shareholders approved a capital increase to finance the public tender offer (OPA) on Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS). The vote took place during a shareholders' meeting of the Italian bank.
The operation was approved by 96.96% of the shares represented at the meeting. This result demonstrates strong shareholder support for the bank's expansion strategy through the acquisition of MPS.
Intesa Sanpaolo is one of the largest banks in Italy and the acquisition of MPS represents a significant strategic move in the Italian banking sector. Monte dei Paschi di Siena is one of the oldest banks in the world, founded in 1472.
