The Constitutional Court rejected the appeal filed by PAN, the People-Animals-Nature party, which aimed to overturn a previous ruling that had invalidated the last election of the party's national bodies.
The decision now confirmed by the court maintains the invalidity of the election that took place at the party's congress, including the election of Inês Sousa Real as spokesperson.
PAN is thus left in a situation of uncertainty regarding the legitimacy of its elected national bodies, after the court concluded that there were likely irregularities in the electoral process that led to the election of these same bodies.
Spokesperson Inês Sousa Real, who was among those elected whose election was invalidated, thus sees confirmed the decision she has contested since it was known.
