An accident with a crawler machine caused the death of a man in Azinhal dos Mouros, in Ameixial. The emergency operations mobilized 15 operatives and five vehicles, including an INEM helicopter. The incident was reported by Barlavento.

'The Angel in the Rubble': Last Person Rescued Alive from WTC Rubble Says She Was Saved by a Mysterious Stranger, 25 Years After September 11th

Genelle Guzman McMillan, an employee of the Port Authority who worked on the 64th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, was the last person rescued alive from the rubble after the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York. Twenty-five years later, she recalled to People magazine the terror she experienced, from the first impact at 8:46 a.m. to the tower's collapse at 10:28 a.m. Genelle, then 30 years old, began fleeing down the stairs with a colleague, but stopped on the 13th floor to remove her high heels, at which point the tower collapsed on her. She survived under the rubble and was rescued after hours of waiting, becoming one of the most miraculous cases of the tragedy that killed nearly 3,000 people.
