Twenty-five years ago, a terrorist attack shocked the world and historically changed the United States. On September 11, 2001, hijackers struck the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York with two commercial planes, killing nearly three thousand people and injuring about six thousand. The two towers, which had 110 stories, collapsed amid dust.
A third plane was launched into the west facade of the Pentagon and a fourth crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. The attacks were planned by the Islamic extremist group Al-Qaeda, led by Osama Bin Laden.
