Nelas and GNR Renew Teleassistance Project

Diário de Viseu11 September 2026 at 14:30

The Municipal Council of Nelas and the National Republican Guard have renewed the collaboration protocol for the continuation of the teleassistance project in the municipality. The project aims to support isolated and vulnerable elderly people through technological devices.

Six teleassistance devices will continue to serve the elderly population of the municipality of Nelas. These devices enable the elderly to maintain permanent contact with emergency and social support services.

The renewed protocol between the municipality and the GNR ensures the maintenance of this essential service for the senior community of the territory. The partnership between the two entities aims to reinforce the security and monitoring of the most vulnerable citizens.

The teleassistance project is part of a broader strategy to protect isolated elderly people in the country's interior, where social isolation and the distance from health services represent significant challenges for this population group.
