The Ebola epidemic has spread to the seventh province of the African country, representing a significant expansion of the outbreak that already affects multiple regions of the territory. The number of deaths associated with the disease reached 3,310 since the beginning of the epidemic, revealing the severity of the public health situation the country is facing.
The World Health Organization is currently working on the development of two specific vaccines to combat the virus strain responsible for the outbreak. However, the completion of the trials and the availability of the vaccines may take several months, which leaves health authorities in a race against time to contain the spread of the disease.
