The agricultural sector of Castellón faces a strong aging of its population. The most recent data from the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA), for the 2025 fiscal year, collected by Unió Llauradora, reveals that there are eight recipients of direct CAP aid over 65 years old for every young person joining the sector.
Generational renewal continues to be one of the great pending tasks of the Valencian countryside. This situation reflects an incorporation of young people into the agricultural sector in the Valencian Community that is still very limited.
The data shows a strong aging among the recipients of direct CAP aid, which poses significant challenges for the future of agriculture in the region.
