Lagos hosts today and tomorrow the National Dog Show of the Algarve and the International Dog Show, at the Municipal Stadium. The event features the participation of more than 700 dogs of different breeds, which will be evaluated by six international judges from Belgium, Spain, and Portugal.
The program starts at 5:30 PM on both days, followed, starting at 10:30 PM, by the Grand Prix, which constitute the highlight of the event. On Saturday, there are also two monographic shows dedicated to Portuguese breeds with strong ties to the Algarve territory: the 5th Monographic Dog Show of the Cão do Barrocal Algarvio, at 9 PM, and the 38th Monographic Dog Show of the Portuguese Water Dog, at 9:30 PM.
Entry to the event is free and visitors can bring their own dogs, as long as they are kept on a leash and with their vaccination record up to date. The venue also has a catering area for participants and spectators.
The Algarve Dog Shows are organized by the Lagos Town Hall, under the regulations of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and the Portuguese Kennel Club (CPC), with the support of Lagos Zoo and sponsorship from Ownat.
