The National Statistics Institute (INE) confirmed that inflation accelerated to 3.3% in August, a significant increase compared to the previous month. This figure represents an acceleration in the rate of growth of consumer prices in Portugal.
Diesel fuel was identified as the main responsible for this rise, accounting for practically the entire increase in the inflation rate in the period under analysis. The behavior of fuel prices thus had a determining weight on the final indicator.
Energy product prices were particularly significant in the last month. This index rose from a variation of 8.7% in July to 12.2% in August, showing a pronounced acceleration in this sector.
INE, as the entity responsible for the compilation and publication of official statistics in Portugal, confirmed these data reflecting the evolution of prices in the country during the month of August.
