Taxis at the airport will have fixed fares. Traveling within Lisbon will cost between 16 and 19 euros

The Lisbon City Council and two taxi associations signed this Friday a protocol establishing fixed fares for taxi trips from Humberto Delgado Airport. Trips within the city now cost 16 or 19 euros, depending on the destination parish, eliminating the need for negotiation with drivers.

About 90% of the usual destinations for trips starting at the airport are included in the new predefined table, according to Carlos Silva, president of the Portuguese Taxi Federation. For closer parishes, such as Oriente, Lumiar or Avenidas Novas, the fixed price is 16 euros. Parishes outside this perimeter but still within Lisbon cost 19 euros.

The protocol also includes fixed prices for more distant destinations, following the existing table in Lisboa Tourism's Taxi Voucher system. Estoril, Cascais and Sintra cost 53.4 euros, Oeiras 36.95 euros, Ericeira 66.85 euros, Coimbra or Figueira da Foz 257.80 euros, Porto 386.30 euros, Évora and Sines 193.50 euros and the Algarve 362.20 euros. Night trips, holidays and weekends have supplements.

The agreement imposes duties on drivers, including the requirement to accept electronic payment, keep vehicles clean and comply with dress code and conduct rules. Only taxis that sign an adherence term will be able to operate at the airport, with the plaza closed to others. Carlos Silva highlights that the proposal had been submitted to the council over a decade ago and that price transparency will bring benefits to the tourist destination.
