INEM strike cancelled after meeting at Ministry of Health

RTP Notícias11 September 2026 at 12:50

The strike at the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) that was planned for September 14 and 28 was cancelled after an agreement between the Government and the union representing the workers.

The agreement was reached during a meeting held at the Ministry of Health, where both parties negotiated and reached an understanding on the claims that were the basis for calling the strike.

With the cancellation, the stoppages that would have affected emergency medical services in mainland Portugal during those two days in September are called off.

The union and the Government thus found a solution that avoided the impact on users of the national health system during the planned strike period.
