Six people died as a result of a landslide at the Seis Carros Mine, in Manica, in central Mozambique. Mozambican police confirmed the accident occurred during the early morning hours.
Authorities indicated that the accident happened during a period when many miners take advantage of the lack of visibility and reduced oversight to enter the illegal operation of the mine.
The Seis Carros Mine is known for attracting artisanal miners who work irregularly in the facilities.
