6.5 million to compensate losses in the fishing sector

The Regional Government Council approved the Compensation Mechanism for Commercial Fishing in the Azores Marine Park, with a total value of 6.5 million euros. This decision comes after a favorable opinion from the European Commission regarding this matter.

The approval of the mechanism was based on two studies that supported the need to compensate professionals in the commercial fishing sector. The amount allocated for this compensation will be distributed in order to mitigate the losses faced by Azorean fishermen.

The Azores Marine Park is the geographical context where this compensation measure is concentrated, covering operators in the commercial fishing sector who were affected by significant losses. This initiative represents important financial support for the sustainability of fishing activity in the region.

IPCA drops 0.32% in August, with decline in electricity bills and food prices

The IPCA, Brazil's official inflation index, fell 0.32% in August, recording the first monthly deflation since August of last year. The result was driven mainly by a 7.63% drop in residential electricity tariffs and a 0.34% decline in the Food and beverages group. Over 12 months, the index rose 4.22%, remaining below the upper limit of the central bank's continuous target, which is 3% with a margin of 1.5 percentage points.
