Águas Públicas do Alentejo (AgdA) launched a public tender for 141,300 euros for the supervision and technical monitoring of the installation of photovoltaic energy production units in 15 water and sanitation infrastructures in the region. The procedure, published on 9 September, aims to contract supervision services, safety coordination, quality and environmental management, and archaeological monitoring, with a contract period of 450 days and a deadline for proposal submission until 9 October 2026.
The overall project, estimated at approximately 1.76 million euros, covers infrastructures distributed across 12 Alentejo municipalities: Alvito, Castro Verde, Aljustrel, Moura, Montemor-o-Novo, Almodôvar, Serpa, Odemira, Grândola, Beja, Vidigueira and Alcácer do Sal. Among the equipment covered are the Roxo Water Treatment Station in Aljustrel and the Corte Vicente Anes pumping station, covering water supply and sanitation facilities in Baixo Alentejo, Alentejo Central and Alentejo Litoral.
The electricity generated by the photovoltaic units will be primarily destined for self-consumption by the facilities themselves. According to AgdA data, approximately 80% of the energy produced will be consumed on-site, reducing the electricity to be purchased from the grid. The investment is part of the company's strategy to reinforce the use of renewable sources in water supply and sanitation operations, with the goal of achieving energy self-sufficiency by 2030. This specific supervision contract does not benefit from European funding.
