GNR Launches the "Safe School" Campaign 2026/2027

Jornal O Almeirinense11 September 2026 at 10:49

The National Republican Guard (GNR) launched on September 11 the "Safe School" Campaign 2026/2027, coinciding with the start of the new school year. This initiative includes a set of awareness actions targeted at students, teachers, and parents/guardians, covering more than 4,400 schools and approximately 670,000 students across the entire Portuguese mainland territory.

The actions aim to raise awareness among the school community regarding the need to adopt self-protection behaviors concerning safety in general. At the same time, they seek to promote inclusive behaviors within the school community and prevent deviant behaviors that deviate from social norms.

The Safe School Program (PES) has as its main objectives the prevention of risky behaviors and the reduction of situations that may compromise the safety of students, teachers, and other participants in the school environment and its surroundings.

The program operates through awareness actions, community policing, and regular follow-up of schools, seeking to deter the commission of offenses and ensure a safe environment for all members of the educational community.
