"Our Culture Comes to the Street" in Mexilhoeira Grande with a program for all ages

Mexilhoeira Grande, in Portimão, hosts on September 19 the 12th edition of "Our Culture Comes to the Street," integrated into the European Heritage Days, under the theme "Revive, Resist, Reinvent." The program includes a walk through the Espargueira area, exhibition of agricultural and gastronomic products, workshops on traditional crafts such as making wicker work and mats, performances by the Rancho Folclórico da Figueira and the Grupo de Cantares Mexilhoeirense, and the performance of the group Brasa Doirada with a repertoire of Alentejo cante. The afternoon also features activities for children, such as making scarecrows and traditional games, and concludes with theater by Gilletes d'Aço, the traditional corn husking, and a dance in the churchyard. The initiative is organized by the Portimão City Council, in partnership with the Portimão Museum and the Mexilhoeira Grande Parish Council, mobilizing local associations, producers, and artisans around the preservation and transmission of the traditional knowledge of the parish.
