Dr. Joaquim Manso Museum reopened to preserve Nazaré's historical tradition

Diário de Leiria11 September 2026 at 11:00

The Dr. Joaquim Manso Museum, located in Nazaré, recently reopened its doors to the public after being closed for renovation works. The cultural space thus resumed normal operations, once again allowing visitors access to its collections and exhibitions.

The museum's reopening has as its main objective to preserve the historical-cultural tradition of the Nazaré region. The space serves as guardian of local memory and identity, keeping alive the cultural references that characterize this coastal zone of Portugal.

Through its exhibitions and collections, the museum seeks to showcase the elements that characterize Nazaré's tradition. This region is known internationally, namely for its giant waves and the surfing tradition that developed there, but also has a rich cultural heritage that the museum aims to value and share with the public.
