Mexilhoeira Grande hosts on September 19 the 12th edition of "Our Culture Comes to the Street," an initiative organized by the Portimão City Council, with production and implementation by the Portimão Museum and the Mexilhoeira Grande Parish Council, integrated into the European Heritage Days. This year, the event takes place under the motto "Revive, Resist, Reinvent," aiming to enhance the traditions, knowledge, and cultural identity of the parish, connecting tangible and intangible heritage, gastronomy, traditional crafts and arts, music, and environmental activities.
The program begins at 09:30 with a walk in the Espargueira area, near Quinta da Rocha, intended for users of the Portimão Elderly Support Center and led by Filipe Bally Jorge from the Environment Division of the City Council. From 16:00 onwards, activities focus on the churchyard of the Mexilhoeira Grande Church, with an exhibition of agricultural and food products, gastronomy, confectionery, and traditional crafts and arts.
From 17:30 to 20:00, several hands-on workshops take place, including "Let's make wicker work" with Ana Carla Cabrita, "Let's make a mat" with José Luís, and "Flavors of the Land" by the Sociedade Recreativa
