The Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo (MAM-SP) reopens this Saturday (12) to the public, after two years closed. The institution, built by Oscar Niemeyer in the 1950s and adapted by Lina Bo Bardi in 1982, is one of the most traditional spaces for art and culture in the capital of São Paulo, located in Ibirapuera Park, in the South Zone.
The museum closed its doors in 2024 due to a renovation of the park's Marquise, which was completed in January of this year. After the restoration done by the concessionaire, MAM carried out in six months a requalification renovation of its own internal space.
The renovation project was signed by the architects Silvio Oksman and Anna Helena Vilela, from the office Metrópole_arq, and updated the internal spaces of the museum, keeping the architectural heritage of the site preserved. With the reopening, MAM presents a new Panorama of Brazilian Art.
