The European project OETERRA – Cross-Border Douro Ecological Observatory promoted, on September 10 and 11, two working sessions dedicated to biodiversity conservation and sustainable valorization of the territory of Terras de Trás-os-Montes. The initiative is part of the Interreg-POCTEP program and continues the work started by the previous project OET Durius.
On Thursday, September 10, the Juncal Park in Mogadouro received a visit to the interventions carried out under OET Durius, after a technical meeting with the partners. The activity allowed on-site monitoring of some of the actions developed for the recovery and ecological valorization of natural spaces.
Today, September 11, the work continues at PINTA – Iberian Park of Nature and Adventure, in Vimioso, with a participatory workshop dedicated to cultural landscape, biodiversity and human activities in the Cross-Border Biosphere Reserve of the Meseta Ibérica. The session brings together different entities and local agents.
The contributions from these meetings will be integrated into the diagnostic and planning work of OETERRA, aiming to define future conservation actions, ecological restoration and sustainable valorization of the region. The project extends its intervention to areas such as habitat connectivity, environmental monitoring, technological innovation and community participation in land management.
