Rafael Leão, winger for AC Milan and player formed at Sporting, stopped following the Lisbon club on the social network Instagram. The forward, who became a player in Sporting's youth ranks, removed the Alvalade club from the list of accounts he follows on the platform.
This decision comes at a time of tension between the player and Sporting, the club for which he became national champion in the 2020/21 season. The Portuguese winger, considered one of the great promises of Portuguese football, left Alvalade for Lille in 2019, in a transfer that generated some controversy.
The gesture of stopping following Sporting on social media comes following a recent disagreement between the parties, related to the legal proceedings that oppose the player to the club. Relations between Leão and the green and white structure have been marked by some coldness since he left the green and white emblem.
The Portuguese international, who currently plays for AC Milan, continues to be an unavoidable figure in European football, but his sporting future now also seems marked by off-field issues. The decision to stop following Sporting may indicate a worsening of the situation between both parties.
