The mother of a 7-year-old boy in England identified signs of a possible stroke in her son after researching symptoms on ChatGPT. Junior Far, from Portslade, presented weakness and tingling on the left side of his body during a swimming lesson on May 12. Evangelynne Williams, 27, decided to seek medical care immediately after the suspicion.
At the hospital, however, Junior underwent simple tests and was discharged without imaging tests. According to the mother, the medical team only did finger tests on the boy and did not perform a CT scan or other exams, advising them to return if symptoms came back.
About six weeks after the first episode, in June, Junior woke up feeling sick, with nausea and vomiting. At the hospital, his health condition worsened significantly, revealing that the initial condition had not been adequately investigated.
The case raises questions about the need for more detailed tests in cases of neurological symptoms in children, even when initial simple tests do not indicate serious problems.
