Rock in Rio takes place at Cidade do Rock and expects to receive 100,000 people per day during the second weekend of the festival, which features various musical attractions. The Rio City Hall set up a special traffic plan to handle the large expected crowd flow.
Nine streets in the surrounding area of Cidade do Rock will be closed due to the event. The restrictions start at 2 PM and end at 5 AM on all show days, changing the dynamics of the area and requiring planning both for those attending the festival and for those who need to circulate in the area.
To facilitate the public's travel, a special transportation plan was organized. BRT, metro and VLT will operate 24 hours during the event. In addition, the Central do Brasil, Madureira and Deodoro train stations will be open during the early morning to serve spectators.
