The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) placed nine districts in the center and south of Portugal under yellow warning for the weekend due to forecast heat. The warning covers the central and southern regions of the country, indicating high temperatures.
The yellow warning is the least severe on a three-level scale used by IPMA. This type of warning is issued whenever there is a risk situation that requires special attention from the population.
The meteorological authorities recommend special precautions during the period of intense heat, especially for more vulnerable groups such as elderly people, children, and people with pre-existing health conditions.
