Rivals in the race for the Executive of Pernambuco, Governor Raquel Lyra (PSD) and former Recife Mayor João Campos (PSB) will be face to face for the first time in this electoral cycle. The two candidates for the Palácio do Campos das Princesas are confirmed for a debate promoted by Rádio Cidade, scheduled for a Friday morning.
According to allies, Campos' strategy in the debate will focus on comparing his management in Recife with Lyra's in the state executive, whether in infrastructure delivery or in the scope of partnerships with the federal government. The former mayor of the capital has the support of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and plans to also address education and health as a way to counter the governor's management.
Leading in polling of voting intention, Raquel Lyra faces her first direct confrontation with João Campos, who seeks to reduce the rival's advantage through comparisons between the administrations. The debate represents a crucial moment for both candidates, who are trying to consolidate their positions with the Pernambuco electorate.
